Eeewwwwwww
Last time I wrote about my lack of motivation well I’ve had a wake up call but in the most revolting way. Those of you of a sensitive disposition may want to stop reading now.
To put it bluntly I think I need more fibre in my diet. Things haven’t exactly been comfortable in the bathroom area for a while (on occassion it resembles concrete).
My breakfast has been porridge (oatmeal) while on this plan but recently I haven’t been having it daily. It’s got too hot for stodge in the morning so this week at the supermarket I was on the lookout for a museli or granola but even the best had 20g of sugar per 50g serving. I think I’ll have to make my own but I haven’t got round to it yet.
Some of you may be able to guess where this is going. Tonight included an emergency trip to the hardware store as I have just spent the last two hours unblocking my toilet. I think it may have taken exception to my changing to quilted toilet paper.
It has had an immediate impact on my eating as I’m not sure I can now face dinner!
The whole fibre thing has also reminded me that when I was on a high protein plan years ago I was advised to put raw bran in things like scrambled eggs. It was very tasty, a good texture and I might try that again.
So more fibre I think is the way forward and making sure my eating doesn’t damage the procelain!

Hey… I know what you mean, been there I mean I have colitis! Have you ever tried psyllium?? it’s so far one of the best fiber sources and the most natural according to my doctor, I take powder one… pills one don’t work like the poweder. My doctor says it’s the best… and guess what?! it was for me!! just make sure to ask your doctor first (!)
It’s use for a prolonged time isn’t really harmful unlike other fibers out there. Just try adding plain psyllium powder to your diet mix it with some water and that’s it! Just be sure to drink it with plenty of water… at least 2 glasses.
I have had your problem for 29 years now and the only thing that helped was the new plan from Dr. Marc. I find that all the fruits, veggies and whole grains is perfect for me. I will never go off this plan until I get too old to chew! I eat no meat, no dairy, no trans fats, no flour, no sugar. I found that beans, apples, dried apricots, 8 grain cereals (made from sprouted grains, legumes, millet, spelt and soy) can be eaten cooked or straight from the box. Tastes great and has no sugar added. I feel like a new woman. If one day goes by without results, I eat a few dried apricots late in the evening. Drink lots of water as so much fiber needs to be moist or won’t move along. Salads with baby spinach and any other raw veggies of your choice. This old dog did learn a new trick. I love oats, too. Message me for the brand name if you like. Marge
Sue, all I can add is vegetables, (green, and raw) the more the better are neccessary to keep you on track. Although, I am having my own issues lately, they are far from what you are going through. It’s a balance. Balance everything. Just, sit down and work it out, but make sure your getting all the fresh vegetables you need as well, as the rest of your balanced diet.
Bran buds and All Bran cereal is low cal and great fibre. Just put some berries on it for more taste if you like. A little goes a long way. I have to really watch it due to pain meds. When I have bran for breakfast….no problems.
Definately up your fibre. You’ll be so glad!
Fortunately for me I have always loved prunes, and they love me. I eat them every day, also plenty of bran, whole grain cereals and veggies. I don’t eat meat very often…mostly chicken & fish or veggie burgers.
This whole conversations give that old phrase “Way to Go! a whole new meaning. lol

ps….I mean a LOT of veggies, we eat two every night.(one startchy, like sweet potatoes, corn or peas and one not…like broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, etc) and always a salad. (that’s probably why I don’t eat much meat - no room)
i’ll tell you what’s worked for me is the whole grain stuff. i’ve tried everything before this meal plan that i’m on now. i used to take citrucel–it didn’t make me have gas like the psyillium products–i thought i’d explode with those =) i don’t have to take citrucel anymore!!! i’ve had problems my whole life. i remember as a child–when i wasn’t overweight–i had to take special medicine to poop. i eat rice–it’s got brown, wild, black, etc. all kinds of it is mixed together. i found it at walmart. i cook it with taco seasoning so it has some kind of flavor. voila…..poop!!! i do eat vegetables as well and beans but i don’t go overboard on those due to gas. also, i limit myself to 2-3 servings of fruit a day because of the sugar. different things work differently on people, so you’ll just have to try all of these great suggestions. just know that if i can poop everyday, anybody can =) good luck.
p.s. i almost forgot, make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids.
hubby and i have had to resort to adding fiber supplements to some meals… but i think the other advice is already much better than mine, lol. good luck with it and let us know what works for you
