Not the easiest week

I’ve had the flu this week. I had to take three days off work and most of the office has had a few days off.

It’s not ideal for the first week back on plan. I mean if you know you are going to be at home during the day you buy suitable food for lunches etc. but I was reduced to raiding the freezer so wasn’t exactly on plan.

I’ve lost 3lbs this week which hopefully isn’t just down to the flu.

I’m hoping to feel better and really get on with it this week.

How to drink more water

I’ve mentioned on here before that I struggle to drink water as it just doesn’t taste well of anything really. I add a small amount of zero calorie squash or cordial to it and as it now tastes of something I can drink pints of it.

When I mentioned this before my American buddies didn’t know what I was talking about and after a quick search I realised that squash doesn’t exist in America and that there isn’t an equivalent.

What I did discover when I was in Florida in November was that you can buy it over there. It is in the ethnic food aisle along with some other British food.

I don’t know if this was just in Orlando or if it is available elsewhere but you can always take a look.

Hope this helps someone!

Here we go

Well I’ve weighed in and it’s a bit worse than I hoped but that’ll happen when you eat everything in sight for 6 weeks. I’m back onto it now. I had my porridge this morning and scrambled eggs for lunch. After managing to loss so much last year (before the blip) I’m determined to do even better this year. I’m sure this is the first time I have started a year weighing less than I did the year before.

I was due to go for a nice long walk with someone I met on another site this morning but I’ve damaged my knee again, basically by falling out of bed at 3 o’clock on Friday morning and I’m not up to it right now. I need to up my exercise level but I guess I’m juts going to have to take it slowly.

I’m stocked up with all my favourite “good” food and as my favourite drink is cider I’ve managed to find a low calorie version, so I can have an occasional drink.

Here’s hoping for a good week!

Starting Over

Well… I’m back.

The last time I logged on properly was after my holiday to Florida. I tracked my weight but didn’t blog. During the three weeks I was away I maintained my weight, inspite of eating everything in sight. I guess all the walking balanced out the eating. I think towards the beginning of the holiday I might even have been losing weight but two weeks into the holiday I bust my knee so became a lot less mobile.
It was late November when I got back and I switched from holiday eating to Christmas eating early. I haven’t weighted myself since.

I lost 38lbs last year (not counting the dent made by Christmas) and hopefully I can make further progress this year.  I intend to do the same as last year and take it 1st (14lbs) at a time. I’ve still got a lot to lose but I’ll get there in the end. Exercising is going to be a bit tricky as my knee is still not right and some days I’m having to use a walking stick, but it’ll hopefully heal in time and the less I weigh the better.
This is the first time I’ve ever managed to make any real headway into my weight and end the year weighing less than I did at the beginning.

I had a little bit of a (nice) shock yesterday. I went out shopping with my mum last week and I spotted a pair of trousers for a few pounds in the sales. They didn’t have my size but did have the next size down. They weren’t expensive and were nice trousers so I got them as a bit of an incentive to get moving.
Yesterday I thought I’d see how far off I was to being able to get in them and they fit. I mean properly fit. I have been wearing one or two sizes above. I think I need to reassess how I see myself. I’m not as big as I think. It was a good feeling.

I’m going to start back properly on Saturday. I’ve been away for Christmas at my parents and only got back yesterday. I need to get back into my routine at work, stock up on the correct food and get rid of the unsuitable stuff. So I’ll weigh myself on Saturday morning, see exactly where I stand and go from there.
