Well here I am again heavier, but not as heavy as when I started.

I really struggled to get motivated earlier in the year and let things slip but I’m trying to get started again.

My brother is getting married in January and I don’t want to look a complete sight at the wedding.

So it is back to healthy eating based on the Low GI Diet, muesli or scrambled eggs for breakfast, a sandwich at lunch and a stirfry or chicken with lots of veggies for dinner.

There are a couple of small sticking points on the horizon, I have a weeks holiday next month but as long as I don’t go mad that’ll be okay. My favourite supermarket opens in town this weeks which has good and bad points, the have a good butchery and fish range but they are also well known for their baked goods. The first time I visit I will select one little treat then avoid the areas from then.

Hopefully this is the start of good things and good motivation again.

It’s not ideal for the first week back on plan. I mean if you know you are going to be at home during the day you buy suitable food for lunches etc. but I was reduced to raiding the freezer so wasn’t exactly on plan.

I’ve lost 3lbs this week which hopefully isn’t just down to the flu.

I’m hoping to feel better and really get on with it this week.

I’ve mentioned on here before that I struggle to drink water as it just doesn’t taste well of anything really. I add a small amount of zero calorie squash or cordial to it and as it now tastes of something I can drink pints of it.

When I mentioned this before my American buddies didn’t know what I was talking about and after a quick search I realised that squash doesn’t exist in America and that there isn’t an equivalent.

What I did discover when I was in Florida in November was that you can buy it over there. It is in the ethnic food aisle along with some other British food.

I don’t know if this was just in Orlando or if it is available elsewhere but you can always take a look.

Hope this helps someone!

Well I’ve weighed in and it’s a bit worse than I hoped but that’ll happen when you eat everything in sight for 6 weeks. I’m back onto it now. I had my porridge this morning and scrambled eggs for lunch. After managing to loss so much last year (before the blip) I’m determined to do even better this year. I’m sure this is the first time I have started a year weighing less than I did the year before.

I was due to go for a nice long walk with someone I met on another site this morning but I’ve damaged my knee again, basically by falling out of bed at 3 o’clock on Friday morning and I’m not up to it right now. I need to up my exercise level but I guess I’m juts going to have to take it slowly.

I’m stocked up with all my favourite “good” food and as my favourite drink is cider I’ve managed to find a low calorie version, so I can have an occasional drink.

Here’s hoping for a good week!

Well… I’m back.

The last time I logged on properly was after my holiday to Florida. I tracked my weight but didn’t blog. During the three weeks I was away I maintained my weight, inspite of eating everything in sight. I guess all the walking balanced out the eating. I think towards the beginning of the holiday I might even have been losing weight but two weeks into the holiday I bust my knee so became a lot less mobile.
It was late November when I got back and I switched from holiday eating to Christmas eating early. I haven’t weighted myself since.

I lost 38lbs last year (not counting the dent made by Christmas) and hopefully I can make further progress this year. I intend to do the same as last year and take it 1st (14lbs) at a time. I’ve still got a lot to lose but I’ll get there in the end. Exercising is going to be a bit tricky as my knee is still not right and some days I’m having to use a walking stick, but it’ll hopefully heal in time and the less I weigh the better.
This is the first time I’ve ever managed to make any real headway into my weight and end the year weighing less than I did at the beginning.

I had a little bit of a (nice) shock yesterday. I went out shopping with my mum last week and I spotted a pair of trousers for a few pounds in the sales. They didn’t have my size but did have the next size down. They weren’t expensive and were nice trousers so I got them as a bit of an incentive to get moving.
Yesterday I thought I’d see how far off I was to being able to get in them and they fit. I mean properly fit. I have been wearing one or two sizes above. I think I need to reassess how I see myself. I’m not as big as I think. It was a good feeling.

I’m going to start back properly on Saturday. I’ve been away for Christmas at my parents and only got back yesterday. I need to get back into my routine at work, stock up on the correct food and get rid of the unsuitable stuff. So I’ll weigh myself on Saturday morning, see exactly where I stand and go from there.

Last Saturday I spent 4 1/2 hours walking round town and I’ve recently bought Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii which I’ve been playing a lot. It certainly classes as exercise in my book.

I also took part in a team building exercise on Thursday. It was a walking treasure hunt round Exeter, in fancy dress. So if anyone saw a bunch of people looking like complete muppets, I was one of them. It was a superheroes theme. My team were the Men in Black so we weren’t as bad as some.

I think the weight loss would have been higher if the team building hadn’t ended in a drinking session but I’m happy with 2lbs.

It has been a bit of a stressful week familywise as my little brother (25) was rushing into hospital on Tuesday and straight into an emergency op as he had a strangulated testicle. Luckily he still has everything attached but is on bed rest at our parents for a while. They are hoping he hasn’t done any permanent damage.

Well this lunchtime I got a sandwich from the same place as usual and it was a sandwich I have eaten before but they must have used a different supplier for one of the ingredients because 30 minutes later and I was not in a good way.

So I have had to come home. I’ve taken some antihistamine which is making me feel drowsy and I’m drinking loads of water to flush out my system.

I hate this I’m going to feel dodgy for ages.

This week at work has been so frustrating. Along with my day job, whenever we prepare a business plan, I co-ordinate all the individual pieces coming together and analyse the outputs. Essentially that means I spend all my time chasing everyone else to do their work and I can’t do mine until everyone else has finished.
We had to review with the Finance Director on Friday so the deadline for the work to be finished was Wednesday lunchtime, to give me time to do my work and for reviews to take place.
If I tell you that when I left on Friday, the basic work in one area still hadn’t been finished, you can understand how frustrated I am.

I didn’t eat my way through my frustration but I did meet up with my parents last night for a meal. They are on holiday this week in Cornwall and were passing through so we spent a couple of hours together at a cavery. It wasn’t on plan (and I did round it off with an ice cream) but I knew it was going to happen. Still I’ve lost 1lb this week and hopefully it’ll be a bit more next week.

I really liked the look of the walking DVDs recommended as a reply to my last blog but they are all region 1 so won’t work in the UK. There doesn’t seem to be anything similar here which is a shame. I guess I’ll have to keep looking.

I’ve been a bit quiet again recently, I keep logging in but don’t seem to really blog or comment much.

Things are still going well, I’ve lost the last couple of weeks, with a 2lb loss this week which was slightly suprising as I was at a wedding last weekend and drank way too much. I also ate two of the largest profiteroles I have ever seen in my life, they were each about the size of a grapefruit, I was expecting one or two petite little things which wouldn’t have been too bad. I shouldn’t have eaten them both and I did feel quite ill afterwards.
I didn’t even feel like eating anything from the buffet at the evening do, even though it was a nice spread although that might have been due to the copious amount of alcohol I consumed.
It was a family wedding and things went as well as could be expected. It was quite a refined affair and not really my thing. I never know what to wear and then to think I look a bit of a sight whatever. My mum wanted me to be in a dress or a skirt but I haven’t worn either for at least 10 years and I would have been even more uncomfortable, she eventually saw a bright pink floaty top and told me to buy it. I hated it but at least I din’t get earache from her or my gran about what I was wearing.
My grandad was being his usually tactless self, telling all and sundry that even though I looked like I did, that I had lost weight recently. He has quite a loud voice and he even did it in the wedding chapel, while we were waiting for the bride. He was also making sarking comments everytime I ate or drank something. I tried to ignore it but it still hurts. I wasn’t going to be fussy about what I was eating at a wedding, there was no choice and I was having a day off. I know I’ve let myself get to this point but it can’t all disappear overnight and I’ve lost 37lbs since January.

I knew the weekend wasn’t going to good eating wiseI was staying at my parents and they don’t really understand. As soon as I got home again I was straight back on track and a 2lb loss is a testament to my determination not to let the eating or comments affect the rest of the week.

I’ve bought a few new bits of clothes for my holiday (including a new swimsuit arrggghhh) but I’m hoping to buy some clothes in Florida while I am there as there is only really one shop I can buy from here and I’m lead to believe the choice is better over there.
So can anyone recommend any good stores for the larger lady?
